I have been a Banglorean for quite sometime now. I first visited Bangalore when I was 7 years old. Don’t recall much from that trip though. It was much later that Bangalore beckoned for my education. Studied in Bishop Cottons, and of all the things good about the school, the location was by far the best. Few years later, I was back again to give my GRE and post that I just stayed on in the city.

So the association has been very long and now Bangalore is my home I in turn build luxury homes for others, thus enabling people to make Bangalore their home.

It’s a beautiful city and there are quite a few things that you will love. Since I love to eat outside, I wanted to share some of the most amazing places to eat in Bangalore

Kabab Korner: Probably one of the greatest levelers in Bangalore. The food is awesome and almost everybody who is anybody or nobody eats here. The best part is that you get to have your food served to you in your car, although getting parking these days is becoming increasingly difficult.

Corner House: The one next to Galaxy Theatre (which was taken down ages ago) was I believe the first of the Corner Houses. Their ‘Cake Fudge’ is out of the world. There is ‘Death by Chocolate’, meant for a couple, is equally good but is a meal in itself.

Airlines hotel: Coffee here tastes divine. One of the few places few places where they serve you in the car and it’s been there since ages. The place has an old world charm.

Ice and Spice: Excellent burgers which don’t taste factory made and are very fresh.

On St Marks Road next to Kabab Korner

MTR: This is the legendary eatery for the best local fare. Dosas are just awesome

Woody’s: Since it’s located on Commercial Street it’s the only easily accessible place which serves local fare which you won’t get in the regular south Indian restaurants. The food is very good and the place is very relaxing.

Anand Sweets: Best place for puchkas, clean and extra spicy. They make the way you get them in Kolkata. One should also try their biscuits sold as Badamika, they’re really good.

Pastries at the Sweet Chariot: Before the start of the dessert revolution there was Sweet Chariot with amazing pineapple and black forest pastries. They have also moved with the times and now offer much more than pastries.

Imperial on Residency Road: This place was the place to have the last meal on a Saturday night. The chicken kebab and ghee rice are awesome, as is the butter chicken. Nothing beats the taste. It’s a no frills place, service is not all that great but they make it up with some amazing food.

Some of the places which are no longer around.

Rice Bowl: This is the one that used to be located on Brigade Road. The place would be buzzing with Chinese, Tibetan and Nepali people and the food was amazing.

Underground Pub: Well, the first time I visited it I thought it was some mysterious station. I thought that the inside doors will open to other places where we could go! I was just out of my tenth grade and it was mid 93.

Time And Again: This used to be the disc. To be seen inside the place used to do wonders to your ego and self-esteem.

New Restaurants

Infinitea: One of the few or maybe the only ‘Tea Café’. Offers some amazing food as well.

100 feet restaurant: A very different concept. Food is amazing and the general ambience of the place is very uplifting. A great place to have meals and hang out with friends.

Shiro: This is a must-visit pub located inside the UB city Mall. Everything about the place is grand. Service is excellent and the crowd is excellent.

Places to visit

Drive to the airport when you don’t have to catch a plane in the sense when you don’t have to do anything at the airport, but just want to drive for the fun of it. One of the best roads in this part of the world and a great view. The whole place is amazing.

Our Native Village: This is one of the hidden gems of Bangalore. Not many people know it exists. It is said that you can only come here if you get the calling from within. A stay of 2 nights can change your life forever.

UB city: Well this is one building which is recent and will leave a legacy behind. It’s just awesome.

Drive along the Vidhan Soudha followed with Cubbon Park.

Eagleton Golf Resort: Golf courses generally are very difficult to get into but at Eagleton anyone can play a round of golf and enjoy good service. It’s up market and very welcoming.

Elevated Road on Hosur Road and ahead: One has to drive on it to really feel the beauty. It’s an amazing initiative and Bangaloreans are definitely proud of it. Hosur Road has come a long way and though it has been criticized endlessly, the infrastructure is beautiful.

Infrastructure in Bangalore overall is coming up very well. The number of flyovers and roads which are being built is phenomenal. With the Metro also taking shape I am sure in the very near future the traffic woes will be all be in the past.

If you guys visit and want to share your feedback or add to the list of places which make Bangalore an amazing place please do.
